Are you in favor of a second Wal-Mart store in Rapid City?  If so, do you like the proposed location, or where do you think a better location would be?

Weather you're in favor or not, it was approved by the voters. Although I would like to see it closer to the Sturgis area, I think its a great location & its in a commerical zoning area. It will be easy access for the tourist coming thru & for the local shoppers.

I don't think that Rapid City is big enough to handle another Wal-Mart. A second Wal-mart will probably close another business down

We need a new Walmart & the current proposed location is just fine.

- Robert Anderson, Custer

Yes I think we need a new WalMart. I think the corner of catron and 79 would be a great location. I do not have a problem with the selected location but down on 79 seems to be a better location.

- Tim Wical, Rapid City

I think they have picked a great location for it and I think anyone of the three designs that were in the Journal would be a great addition to that area.

This is about the proposed Wal-Mart. As a resident of South Pointe Development I am in favor of the Wal-Mart for these reasons jobs, location, and covenience of shopping.

- Maryellen Newman, Rapid City

I think another wal-mart would be great. The wal-mart that we have now is way too crowded. The new location is a great place and i hope it will work out.

- jennifer knighton, rapid city

It will be nice to see another Wal-mart. Hopefully it will cut down on extreme congestion at the current one. It does not matter to me where it is built... anywhere and soon.

I think the location of the second Wal Mart at Catron Blvd. and 5th St. is a good choice and hope the city council approves it. This location will provide excellent service to South Rapid, Rapid Valley and tourists travelling to Mt. Rushmore on Catron Blvd. and Fifth Street. It will be far enough south to be less competition to any similar downtown business. As to existing disappointed area residents; it is the responsibility of home buyers to research and understand the potential of comercially zoned lots in the area before purchasing residential properties there. A second Wal Mart will certainly ease our shopping problems at the existing store.

- Bob Grimm, Rapid City

After listening to the voters approve the 2nd Walmart it seems as the residence of Rapid City cannot agree to a locations that everyone approves. If I were the executives of Walmart I would look for another location in a different city. The state of South Dakota spent alot of money to relocate an interchange at Box Elder to keep Ellsworth AFB open. In my opinion exit 67 would be a great location for the 2nd store. All of the people that come from out of town can bypass the congestion of Rapid City and with a large chain store moving out to the Box Elder area maybe some of the other ammenidies would also locate out to a town that is growing rapidly.

WalMart on 5th ST. WalMart should be able to build there since it is zone commercial and people should have been made aware that it was zoned that way. WalMart has proved itself to be a good neighbor. It would be nice to be able to use a WalMart on that side of town.

We live behind the waterslide and have absolutely no place to go shopping close to our house. I would very much like to have something out south for a change. Everything seems to go in north and east.

First I feel the people in the 5 mile radus and Rapid City Res should be the only ones to really speak their mind on this issue since it does not effect any other people on where it is located, land wise any way. I do believe we need another Walmart. Any one living in this erea that use the one we all ready have knows personally how busy it is. Second the new location is a great one. First any one that bought homes in that erea knew that erea was zoned business. If they still bought the land there for there homes then sorry you were informed before you bought it, so that was your choice. Second the economy sure needs a boost and a second walmart could help unemployment here.. That erea is growing fast and it would save a great amount of travel time and that means less gas use...looks like another great reason to have it at the proposed sight.

- Tina Bradley, Rapid City

A second Walmart has been needed since it was proposed 2+ years ago. The voters said yes, only a few elitist have stonewalled the previous attempts. It should be built where it is now proposed since that area is commercial, no hiding that fact, just look at the signs that went up as soon as 5th st was completed. If they build it we will shop!
