History buffs re-creating Wagon Train experience
A group of history buffs is re-creating an experience most of us have never had: traveling a long distance at the speed of a horse's walk.  They've been out on the prairies for the past two weeks, reliving life on the old Miles City to Deadwood trail.

Raiders club Cobblers in girls' volleyball

They're usually saved until closer to the end of the regular season, but that's okay.  Just three games into the girls' high school volleyball regular season, the Central Cobblers and Stevens Raiders hit the hardwood to renew their crosstown rivalry.  Raiders take it. Final Score 3 to 1.

Chaplain first Army clergyman killed in battle since Vietnam PDF print email

The military says a chaplain who died in Afghanistan is the first Army clergyperson killed in action since the Vietnam War.  Capt. Dale Goetz from White, South Dakota was among five soldiers killed by an improvised bomb on Monday.

Kindergarten numbers up in Rapid City PDF print email

The superintendent of Rapid City Area Schools says the district is seeing a big influx of kindergartners this year.  Dr. Timothy Mitchell says the kindergarten classes in North Rapid City are beyond capacity so the district had to add two full-time equivalent teachers to that grade level.

Pre-historic pieces get a new home at SD Mines PDF print email

Hundreds of thousands of pieces and - piece by piece - each one was moved into a brand new building where students and staff can learn and help educate the public at the same time.  The South Dakota School of Mines opened the doors Wednesday to its new Paleontology Research Laboratory.
